"THE NEGLECTED FRONTLINERS"- Efo Worlanyo TSEKPO
Today the heroes in the world are our Health workers, Officers in uniform and the journalists (media) who in the midst of this deadly outbreak still signed their death warrants and are stepping out there to risk their lives and that of their families so that you and I can live. No wonder they are being celebrated across the globe except in Ghana.
In Ghana the frontliners per government's difinition and actions is the Electoral Commission and NOT our hardworking Health Workers, how pathetic
This is because as at today, health workers and men and women in uniform are still crying out loud for PPEs to protect themselves as well as save our lives but their cries are always ignored by government led by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. We were all wondering why government has refused to distribute the PPEs donated by Jack Ma early this month but the truth came out from one of the Electoral Commissioners yesterday that government has given the Electoral Commission more than enough PPEs towards the new voters registration exercise.
This revelation shocked me to the bone because I don't understand why government could make Jean Mensah and her heartless staff a priority over our health workers?
Three days ago after a Facebook live program I did, a Medical Doctor in the Bono Regional Hospital called to tell me that I should thank John Dramani Mahama for them because if not because of the donations he made through our Regional Chairman Hon Nyamekye Marfo, it would have been difficult for them to attend to all the suspected cases that came their way in the Region.
We were in this country when workers at the Ridge Hospital and Korle Bu threatened to lay down their tools because even common gloves they have to buy it from their pockets.
Just yesterday a letter came from Keta Hospital demanding same, and the situation is not different from other hospitals across the country but this is a government that has been given more than what they requested to fight the Virus.
Nana Addo and his people must know that 2020 elections doesn't matter to the Doctor who sadly passed on trying to save our lives.
The President should know that the tax break, the 50 percent light, free water and other mitigation measures which even Togo is doing better than us doesn't matter to the Doctor who is currently in the morgue awaiting burial.
That's why all our health workers are asking is for government to take the PPEs from the Electoral Commission and hand them over to them, the frontliners so that they can move out well protected to save us.
Our gallant health workers MUST break their silence and speak out! We know the warnings they have been given by government but they should know that they have families back home to take care of.
The politicians will only praise them for their good job at their burial service and afterwards their families will be left to their faith to suffer.
They should know that, their PPEs are with the Electoral Commission as confirmed yesterday on News File and they must demand for them NOW.
The wickidness of this government is beyond human imagination. This evening once again, he will come and occupy our screan with his well rehearsed body language to deceive us as if he cares while all he cares about is the Elections in 2020.
Don't forget his plagiarized and hypocritical quote"We can bring back our Economy but we can't bring back those who are dead" but today he has chosen Electoral Commission over our Health workers.
Please let's join hands and fight for our health workers, let's push till their PPEs are taken from the electoral commission and handed over to them. This is the time we can join them to make their voices heard loud and clear.
Iam Still a Citizen Not a Spectator!
