CELEBRATING OPPONG VISCENT OF UEW-K FAME ON THE OCCASION OF HIS BIRTHDAY

He is serious on whatever task given to him. You would see him busily working all day and night. He always told me that his aspiration is not making a name but meeting expectations.

I feel proud to say that he is one of the finest product of student Parliament we can be proud of. Indeed, those who wanted to learn from the house really learnt. His rich contribution and committed leadership role to student Parliament remain fresh in the minds of leadership of the 11th Parliament.

In his days as ASA finance secretary, his enviable leadership became crystal clear. Perhaps, a strong pillar behind the successes chalked by the Gideon led administration. Committed Honorable members who really learnt never failed when given the mandate to serve.

He consults a lot. Humble and gentle as he is, his activism and deep analysis of issues cannot be put to question. When he joined objective politics and other talking shows of campus radio, he gave out wisdom to the University community. He holds a historical perspective of every issue before the panel and I did indicate to him that I love that perspective and admonished him to develop that skill further.

Seeing me as a mentor and friend gave me the opportunity to make input in many of the things he was doing. I have too much respect for him.

When I think of such few activists, and juxtaposing same with the obvious leadership conundrum in Ghana and Africa at large, I always feel a fresh breeze and take solace in the fact that we can still churn out generational leaders.

There are many accounts I could have rensered if I had enough time to eulogise him but in the merits and grace of the day, a rainy afternoon with whirling wing from the south to west, our dreams are being lifted so high by our hopes of seeing the radiant sun lights of tomorrow.

Hon Viscent, as you celebrate your birthday today, have time to reflect on the narrow path we started with and never depart from same.

Let us dream bigger and serve mother Ghana tomorrow. I cannot wait to see you and some other activists from this HOUSE occupying prominent positions. It is then and then that I can boldly say that I was the speaker of Parliament in UEW-K and contributed in nurturing many substances for national development.

I wish you a joyous day.
