DR. KING BACHIESICHANG PUTS SMILES IN THE FACES OF FARMERS IN SISAALA EAST

Dr. King Bachiesichang a development advocate cum philanthropist who hails from Jijen in the Sisaala East Constituency and eyes the NDC parliamentary ticket in the Sisaala East constituency in the Upper West Region has started rolling out various developmental policies for the constituents.

He has recently opened a mechanized farm sector with modern equipments in the constituency. The center houses equipment like tractors and combined harvesters. The center is providing free services to his constituents. This is aimed at empowering the grassroot economically, through mechanized farming.

The combined harvesters have started providing free services to some communities. The facilities are available for all farmers.
Beginning from this year, the constituency shall continue to enjoy such services from the center especially that of the free tractor services for ploughing and the combined harvesters for harvesting.

Speaking, to www.newsstandgh.com, he indicated that as a developmental oriented person, he believes that this novel investment in the constituency is his singular contribution to create jobs and help the people in the constituency break through the cycle of poverty in that part of the country. He explained that he has a very comprehensive policy to empower the people and that this mechanized farm center, is part of his “AGRO BASED AND MECHANISED AGRIC TECHNOLOGY POLICY” designed to modernise agriculture and value addition. Among some of his novel policies are:
1. Youth Development and Empowerment
2. Applied Education Policy
3. Resource Mobilisation Policy
4. Road Network and Infrastructural Policy
5. Innovation and Entrepreneurship Policy
6. His robust "Sissala Project Policy"
He added “I am also working assiduously to see how I can invest into irrigation farming to help the people engage in all year round farming."

Dr. King has also dug many boreholes across the constituency to help his people have access to clean water and added that "we cannot sit down aloof and wait for any magic from those in power, if we want power, we must demonstrate that commitment and competence by helping the people to empower themselves."

The NDC lost the parliamentary seat to the NPP in 2016. Dr. King Bachiesichang believes he is the right person who understands national issues  that can fight and win the seat and can articulate the concerns of his constituents on the floor of Parliament. He says his interest for the seat is to use his political influence to add to what he is already doing for the development of his constituency.

The Sisaala East district is a major contributor of the food basket in the Upper West Region. The area is blessed with a vast arable land.  The land remains fertile and yields bumper harvest. For instance, maize, millet, groundnut and cotton are most suitable for cultivation in the area.

However, as results of lack of access to capital, increasing cost of agricultural inputs and lack of technological assistance, the people largely engage in subsistence farming. Any assistance for the people to go into large scale commercial farming can subsequently contribute significantly to food security and growth in the agricultural sector. The intervention by the Dr. King is going to alleviate the aged long challenges of farming in the area.
