NDC Lecturer hails Nana Akuffo Addo
A Senior Lecturer at the Kumasi Campus of the University of Education, Winneba, Dr.Yarhands Dissou Arthur, has poured a fountain of laudations on President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, over moves targeted at autonomy of the Kumasi and Mampong Campuses of the university of education, Winneba.
According to him, this plan when finalised, will go a long way to increase access, motivate staff and generate thousands of jobs. A Step, he said will make President Akufo-Addo, an unforgetable leader in the life of the two yet to be established universiries.
For several years, authorities at the Kumasi and Mampong Campuses of the University have clamoured for an autonomy status stating adequate human and material resources as some the reasons. The calls however, had fallen on deaf ears until the assumption of office of President Akufo-Addo.
In his 2016 campaign, canadidate Akufo-Addo, now the president promised to grant Kumasi and Mampong Campuses autonomy status when elected.
While there seems to be frantic efforts from the Central Administration to stifle the conversion move, a bill in parliament has received a second reading pending final passage and assent by the president.
Dr.Yarhands Arthur, the Patron for the NDC students group at the University Campus while addresding the media in Kumasi could not hide his admiration for the steps government has taken so far.
"It is important to give priases to the president for such a bold step. I least expected what i am hearing." Dr.Arthur said.
It could be recalled that Dr. Arthur, who is the immediate past Campus UTAG Chairman was one of the first personalities to have commended President Akufo-Addo for commencing preparatory works on the much awaited autonomy of the two campuses.
He has therefore, urged the Presideent to assent to the bill with dispatch, when it is passed by parliament.
