THE VANITY OF MAN, A DEEPER REFLECTION

Every man thinks of a will. Indeed, when we work on daily basis, we mostly dream of acquiring properties such as cars and houses in fulfilment of our seeming natural desire to possess.
Sometimes, man in his quest of having virtually everything to his chest, goes the extra mile by cheating, stealing and by extension, killing others.
It is this instinct that has promulgated corruption, kidnapping and other deviant acts in our society.
The society has sadly given some benchmarks and the inability of man to meet those standards, makes him "useless"
A man who dies without wealth is not celebrated. In fact, they insult him even at his funeral ground. We don't hear of tributes. Nobody thinks of one.
Contrary, those who amass wealth buy accolades during their lives and after their death. Sugarcoated tributes are read during their funerals, praises are sang and they are considered heroes. Nobody questions the source of their wealth. Churches will hold funeral masses because the church has benefited from their generosity whether a false generosity or a real sacrifice.
A good name is now tantamount to wealth and generosity. What a world!
In social gatherings and even in churches, special seats are reserved for those who have amassed wealth. They are the "saints and pillars" of the church. How will the church now help shape a society with values devoid of corruption, stealing and others?
We must come to the realisation that our lives are the number one and topmost of all properties. Our lives are defined not only by how much we have but how well we live. A life well lived is richer than a life defined by material possessions.
In thinking of your will, you must first think of the will of God. In knowing the will of God, you gain the unique ability to live a relatively just life and when HIS blessing finds you, you shall build both on earth and in heaven.
The process of knowing the will of God is the process of departing from the fray of corrupt acts. Do not worry if others get there quickly, everything that is a blessing from your maker comes slowly. Don't steal to make a name. You have a name already in the Kingdom of God for leaving a just life.
Let's individually help to reconstruct society if not we shall perish both here on earth and perish again in eternity.
A principled society is a catalyst for progressive development.
