"DARKNESS FALLS" BY FRANCIS GUONAA

DARKNESS FALLS
Guonaa Francis

In the stillness of the night
I could hear the the unusual hooting of the owls.
I really suffered from the blisters of the night
And was sullen;
Hoping to close that door.
I hoped of welcoming the broad
New day with a smile.
I was consoled by the smiling sun
Of the morn
Accompanied by the beautiful
Dancing of the flowers
And the melodious tunes from birds.
There and then
Darkness at noon appeared.
A smelling message was heard
When the day was still young.
Death arrived with the cudgel
To greet my king for the last
And darkness falls again
Crushing down my world.
The day was darker than the night.
My only dad
My bread winner
My live wire
My anchor in life
He has the belief in the value
Of toils and perseverance.
Death, a universal enemy
Laid the icy hands on him
And answered the ancestral call.
It was a sacred call by the Maker
Which he answered without hesitation.
Daddy!
You had a foresight
Keeping posterity in mind
Gravely concerned of their prosperity
And your philosophical talks
Still clicks and rings in my mind.
You left countless legacies
Your offsprings
To continue from your footprints.
Geniuses and valiant
Very humble and generous
Who are walking your talk
Serving humanity with humidity.
Oh daddy!
You're not dead or lost
You're only sleeping.
The indelible marks you left
Your name will be like the sun
Forever be remembered by generations.
Rest perfectly with your Maker.
Orphans in the world
Ye that are in grief like me
Stop crying in pain
Thy Maker above
Will look at thee with compassion
And you will not remain in depression.
